5th Quarter is a Friday night event designed to provide a safe environment for teens on Friday nights using staff and adult volunteers for positive interaction and extended contacts with youth outside of regular school hours. a supervised environment of social time with food, music, Pac-man, video games, board games, basketball and lots of fun!

  • To participate, parents must sign an authorization form allowing EKO to get grades and conduct status on their child.
  • It gives the youth an opportunity for youth people to develop cooperative skills as they interact with each other.
  • The two-part program is hosted at The Life Center in Eatonville (Friday nights) and on the campuses of Edgewater High School, Lee Middle, Lockhart Middle and Maitland Middle during lunch.
  • This program is run concurrent with the school year and follows the regular academic calendar and sports schedule.The goal is to serve 75-100 teens each week.

The outcomes are as follows:   

  1. Increase school attendanceReduce delinquent behaviors
  2. Maintain a 2.0 GPA or better
  3. Share boundaries and expectations for relationship with positive adult role models
  4. Positive self identity (making good choices)
  5. Empowerment (a safe place to play and interact with peers)
